Graduated with honors in Business Administration (1993) from the American University in Cairo, she solidified her educational experience with a Masters of Public Administration (1999) and an Executive MBA (2014) both from the American University in Cairo. 

    She started her career in 1994 as a Publishing Executive at Nahdet Misr Publishing House. It wasn’t long before she realized the importance of introducing new integrated services and solutions that further support education and learning in Egypt and the Arab world. In 1998, she established Nahdet Misr for Digital Solutions, which offers various digital educational solutions. In the same year, she established Nahdet Misr Advertising, which specializes in animation, virtual reality and augmented reality production. The company is considered the first and only company in Egypt and the Middle East to produce dome theatre movies. Dalia Ibrahim has also succeeded in establishing Nahdet Misr Periodicals in 2004, which publishes the Arabic versions of the world’s most acclaimed entertainment magazines such as; Disney and National Geographic across Egypt and the Middle East. In 2009, she contributed in establishing Nahdet Misr Trading and Distribution; which supplies and distributes all kinds of stationery, and educational supplies.

    Driven by a sense of commitment to the society, Dalia volunteers to serve as a mentor or a judge to start-up projects of young entrepreneurs, which triggered her to later initiate the establishment of EdVentures in 2017. EdVentures is considered MENA’s first corporate venture capital specializing in education, culture and innovative learning solutions.

  • Walid is a Private Equity veteran with over 20 years of experience in investment, finance, management and operational roles across the Middle East, Europe and the USA. His investment expertise and responsibilities span deal origination, execution, value creation and exits. Walid structured and developed successful investment strategies and platforms that were instrumental in raising several funds, including the very successful USD 400 mln North Africa Fund II (launched in 2014) – with participation of global high-profile investors including the EBRD, EIB, IFC, DEG, Proparco, South Suez, and others.

    Walid is a cofounder of “The Alex Fund”, a seed & early-stage investment fund designed to provide Angel Investors with a formal investment vehicle to streamline and expand their portfolio (Launch date: Q3-2021). Walid is also the founder and Managing Partner of Ripples Impact – a newly established boutique investment and financial advisory firm with a focus on growth strategies, restructuring and reorganization. 

    From 2009, and until his departure in Q2 2017, Walid has been a Managing Director with the Abraaj Group ($14 Bln AUM). He led Abraaj’s Egyptian operations and was a senior member of the MENA investment team. During his tenure he led one of the most successful investment portfolios in Egypt with over USD 600 million of assets, and two of his investments ranking among the top EGX performers. Most notably, he was responsible for the investment in, and structuring of Cleopatra Hospital Co. (Egypt’s largest Hospital Group) and led its subsequent successful listing on the Egyptian Stock Exchange in 2016.

    Prior to joining Abraaj, Walid was a director with Riyada Ventures (A boutique regional investment bank), and previously Managing Director of Technology Development Fund (TDF, Egypt’s 1st VC fund). He started his career with AT&T in Kuwait and moved on to manage and establish several technology companies in France and the US.

    Walid served, and continues to serve, as a director on the boards of local and regional companies. He’s an Independent Director and head of the Audit Committee of Alexandria New Medical Center (Egypt’s largest independent hospital – AMES.EGX). He previously served on the boards of Egypt’s largest hospital group (CHG; CLHO.EGX) as well as Egypt’s largest education group CIRA (CIRA.EGX) ahead of its listing. 

    Walid is actively engaged with education and entrepreneurship initiatives in Egypt. He served on the Board of Trustees of Education for Employment (EFE) Egypt, Bidaya Fund’s (Government SME Fund) advisory board, AUC’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation counsel and is an active Endeavor mentor. He’s a venture partner of MindShift Capital, co-founder of Alex Angels Fund and an active startup mentor, advisor and angel investor. 

    Walid has been selected as an Eisenhower Fellow in 2017 and a Kauffman Fellow in 2013. He holds a BSc in Engineering with top honors from Alexandria University.

    When joining Seedstars, she started working across 16 countries across the Middle East and North Africa as a VC analyst, screening hundreds of business models and giving training to early-stage startups; she now oversees Seedstars’ activities in MENA. She holds a BA from Science Po, an LL.M. from UNINETTUNO and an MSc from King’s College London.
